Orthodontics for Children — Studio Smile Geneva
Orthodontics is the dental specialty that corrects tooth alignment at any age. For younger patients, poor positioning can affect chewing, swallowing, speech and even breathing. For adolescents and young adults, being able to smile without embarrassment is important for building self-confidence. Adults may also benefit from orthodontic care for aesthetic or oral health reasons.
At what age should orthodontic treatment begin?
Will my child need braces? It is possible to assess tooth and jaw development from a very young age. A first consultation can be scheduled as soon as primary teeth appear (around age 3–4).
Early interceptive treatments can guide harmonious jaw and tooth growth and help prevent adult complications (jaw malocclusion, lisps, sleep apnea, etc.). Interceptive orthodontics may include simple habit correction (thumb‑sucking, mouth‑breathing) that sometimes avoids the need for appliances later.
If in doubt, bring your child for a consultation to receive an initial diagnosis.
